  • Megan's Law Registry

The New Jersey Megan’s Law Registry is a comprehensive database that provides public access to information about registered sex offenders in the state. It is named after Megan Kanka, a young girl who was tragically sexually assaulted and murdered by a convicted sex offender in 1994. The registry is designed to enhance public safety by allowing individuals to obtain information about offenders residing in their communities. It includes details such as the offender’s name, photograph, physical description, criminal history, and current address. The law requires convicted sex offenders to register with local law enforcement authorities, who then provide this information to the registry. Access to the registry helps citizens make informed decisions to protect themselves and their families.
