VEHICLE/PEDESTRIAN SAFETY
Although a small borough,
Hasbrouck
Heights
has an inordinate amount of traffic flow given the fact that
Routes 17, 46 and 80 run through the borough. The Traffic Bureau
investigates all hit & run MVAs and reviews
800-1000 traffic accidents per year encompassing state, county and local
roads. As motorists and
pedestrian safety is a foremost priority of this bureau we are diligent
in addressing the ever increasing
volume of traffic in the borough, as a result of this diligence, the
Borough of Hasbrouck Heights has been presented with the
AAA "PEDESTRIAN SAFETY CITATION" for our participation in the
Pedestrian
Protection Program for the years f 1991 through 1997.
Monthly motor vehicle inspection stops are held in conjunction with
D.M.V. to insure vehicle safety and to educate motorists about seat belt
safety.
S.M.A.R.T. trailer monitors speed in school zones and problems areas.

SUMMONSES
All motor vehicle summonses, moving and parking, are reviewed and
processed through the Traffic Bureau. To pay or settle a MV Summonses,

TEMPORARY
HANDICAPPED PLACARDS
Temporary Handicapped placards are issued by the Traffic Bureau, these
cards are available for a period of
6 months with a renewal of 6 months if necessary.
Permanent handicapped license plates are issued by the Division of Motor
Vehicles.
CITIZENS
CONCERNS
All citizen concerns regarding traffic violations or hazards are
investigated by this Department, Officers are assigned to correct said
situations and if deemed necessary, surveys are conducted and results of
same are available to the governing body and citizens alike.
Obtain the Release
for your vehicle
In order to obtain a release for your
vehicle, you must complete the following checklist:

You must report in
person to the Hasbrouck Heights Police Headquarters located at 248
Hamilton Ave, Hasbrouck Heights, NJ.

You must be the OWNER
of the vehicle in question or present a Notarized authorization to
obtain the release of the vehicle.

You must present proof
of ownership, the title or a VALID registration certificate
and proof of insurance.
If you're vehicle was
impounded for a DWI, then you must wait at least 12 hours from
the time of the arrest before your vehicle can be released.
